2006/1/20 The Chinese QipaoThe Chinese Qipao The Chinese Qipao is traditional Chinese dressing for women, which has been worn since the Ching Dynasty (1644-1911 AD). There is another name for Qipao is called Cheongsam. The Qipao usually is made of excellent materials like silk, silk brocade, satin, satin brocade or velour's. Nearly all colors can be used. The Qipao often gets a certain pattern, such as Chinese Dragons, different kinds of flowers, butterflies or other typical Chinese icons. For convenient movement and show the slender legs of women Qipao generally has two big slits at either side of the hem. The collar of Qipao is high and tight fitting, not just for warm but also for beauty. The Chinese Qipao is usually for special event or location. Young women's kimonos are very vibrant, colorful and rich with patterns. The Korea Traditional clothing is called hanbok which is a rectangular or tubular skirt with a high, pleated waistband. It is tied above the breasts with long sashes.
